ABOUT US Hi, I'm Mandy and our rescue was founded over 10 years ago, although it is not a registered charity, it is RSPCA approved and registered with the RSPCA call centre contact list. All the rabbits which arrive at North Lincolnshire RSPCA are brought to this rescue as they have no facilities of their own. Our rescue is Rabbit Welfare Association approved, and approved by North Lincolnshire Council for public fund raising events, and was both Pets at Home and Rabbit Welfare Association chosen charity in 2010. BACKGROUND According to the PDSA rabbits are the third most popular pet in the UK, but sadly are the most abused pet with over 40,000 making their way into rescue centres each year and they fear many more are abandoned and never found. Over the last year there has been a 50% increase in the number of rabbits coming into the Scunthorpe rescue. We do not always know why animals are abandoned but this may be due, in part, to the economic climate and this has certainly made our fund raising more difficult. If you feel able to make a donation, whatever the size or type, please visit our donation page or click the link below, FUNDRAISING AND ASSISTANCE The Scunthorpe rescue attends many local shows and Pets at Home, not just to raise funds, but to increase the public awareness of the cost and work involved in pet ownership. As part of our educational programme we also give talks to Guide groups and local schools - if you think you can help in any way with food, funds, via our Paypal donation link, items for sale for our regular open days and galas, or even innovative and funky fundraising ideas, please contact us on our contact page. If you have a local show/gala/summer fete, we'd be happy to accept an invitation to attend with a stall and we could provide the necessary sale goods. As with all charities raising enough funds to cover our expenses of veterinary care, feed and bedding is a major undertaking. The rescue attends weekly car boots and has table top sales locally, one in particular is at a Warden controlled accommodation which is our very near neighbours. The elderly residents really enjoy these as we make this a social occasion with teas/coffee and a raffle. The goods for the car boot and sales have all been kindly donated and our Pharmacy staff are very good to us in this respect. For further information on how you can offer help and assistance visit our News and Contact pages. EUTHANASIA POLICY Scunthorpe Rabbit Rescue has a very clear and unwavering policy of never euthanasing a healthy rabbit, every effort is made sometimes at crippling financial cost to treat and save our residents always taking into account the best possible and most humane course of action or treatment .
